In a big relief for parents, the Punjab government has intervened in the matter pertaining to the submission of school fees despite the schools' closure amid coronavirus pandemic.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Monday said that Punjab government has decided that during the vacations due to Covid-19 all schools in Punjab will be charged 20 per cent less and only on a monthly basis.
“During this time schools will be obliged to pay the full and timely payment of salaries to all teachers and staff and no school will be allowed to exclude teachers or staff,” the CM said.
Punjab Education Minister also tweeted that, “IMPORTANT: All Private School Fees to be discounted by 20% for the months of April & May 2020. CM Usman Buzdar just made the announcement. School Education Department wants to help the parents of Punjab in these difficult times. We will stand by you. #StayHomeSaveLives”
Earlier, the Punjab government had requested private schools to offer a 20 percent concession in fees to students.
Punjab Schools Minister Dr Murad Raas, Law Minister Basharat Raja, Secretary Schools and representatives of different private schools had the meeting last week Tuesday.
The Punjab government had sought suggestions from private schools owners in a bid to give relief to the parents in the form of discounted fees.
