While taking notice of accessing the data about the family of Army Chief General Asim Munir by some officers of National Database Registration Authority (Nadra), the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) summoned the Nadra chairman to its meeting, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
It was revealed during the PAC meeting that the cost of five projects of Islamabad police have exceeded Rs980 million due to delays. These projects were earlier worth Rs339.3 million. The PAC directed to identify those responsible for the delays in these projects.
The disappearance of nine officers of Immigration and Passport Department posted abroad was also revealed during the PAC meeting.
“Nine officers of Immigration and Passport Department were posted abroad between 2014 and 2016. The department has also not received around Rs22.5 million under the surety bond of the officers,” the audit authorities said.
“These officers were posted abroad on contract. On completion of their contract, the officers absconded instead of returning to Pakistan. The salaries of these officers were immediately withheld, and their contracts were cancelled,” the interior secretary told the PAC meeting.
“Why had the surety bonds of these officers not been cashed?” PAC chairman Noor Alam Khan questioned. He also directed to conduct an inquiry and submit a report within 15 days.
