Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday ordered the provision of foolproof security to foreigners living in the country, especially Chinese citizens, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Presiding over an important meeting held at the Ministry of Interior to review arrangements made for the security of Chinese nationals living in the country, especially after the terrorist attack at Besham in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in which five Chinese engineers had lost their lives, the interior minister said the protection of foreigners, especially the Chinese, was the present government’s primary duty.
Secretary Interior Khurram Agha and other senior officials of the ministry were in attendance.
He directed that in this connection implementation of the standard operating procedures be ensured. “The enemies of Pakistan don’t want it to develop and prosper,” he said, and expressed the resolve that the government would not let nefarious designs of the country’s enemies succeed come what may.
Five Chinese engineers and their Pakistani driver were killed in a suicide attack at Besham in district Shangla while they were travelling between Islamabad and a hydroelectric dam construction site in Dasu.
The attack had prompted China to demand a thorough probe into the deadly blast and security for its citizens.
In response, Pakistan announced a swift probe to hold the “perpetrators and accomplices” accountable.
