Punjab Police on Sunday arrested notorious dacoit Mohammad Mujahid Chandia, who was critically injured during an exchange of heavy firing with police near Kot Chattha Bye-Pass, reported 24HD News Channel.
Police said that the arrested dacoit was a resident of Sheru. Police also recovered a 30-bore pistol and motorcycle from the possession of the dacoit Mujahid Chandia.
Later it was revealed that the motorcycle was snatched during a robbery attempt in the jurisdiction of Kot Chattha Police Station. Kot Chutta is a tehsil administrative subdivision of Dera Ghazi Khan District in Punjab.
Police sources further revealed that police intercepted them during the checking process at Bye-Pass in Kot Chattha.
After noticing the police party, the dacoits started firing indiscriminately on them. In retaliation for being fired upon by police, one dacoit was seriously injured while two dacoits escaped from the spot.
District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Ali lauded the timely action of Kot Chattha Police Station. He further directed them to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against criminals.
Police, after registering a case, started efforts to apprehend the remaining dacoits.
