The Balochistan government has warned that veteran politician and BNP-M chief Akhtar Mengal will be arrested if he proceeds with his planned march towards Quetta, reported 24NewsHDTV Channel.
According to the provincial government spokesperson, the administration informed Akhtar Mengal at 6am about his detention under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) ordinance. Despite the formal notice, Mengal reportedly refused to comply and declined to surrender.
Balochistan govt spokesperson Shahid Rind said Akhtar Mengal did not agree to voluntary arrest following the government's directive. He said the government will not allow blocking of roads. He made it clear that Mengal will be arrested under MPO.
He said situation remains tense as authorities monitoring the developments closely.
