A Punjab Police Special Operations Team headed by Inspector Khalid Waryah arrested two proclaimed offenders from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), reported 24HD News Channel on Sunday.

A spokesman for Punjab police said that Punjab police arrested 18 notorious accused who were wanted by police in different cases from abroad during the current year.

The police team, along with the arrested accused, will reach Islamabad Airport on Sunday morning.

The police spokesman further said that a proclaimed offender, Waleed Sajjad, was wanted by Gujranwala police in two separate cases of attempted murder. The accused is involved in firing on citizens, resulting in their injury.

The spokesman said that another accused, Ali Zaib, was also involved in the murder of a citizen in 2023, and a case was filed against him in the local police station.

All the above-mentioned two accused fled away to the United Arab Emirates after committing the crimes.

Punjab police issued red warrants for both accused in collaboration with Interpol.

UAE police arrested both the accused and handed them over to Punjab police.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar, lauded Regional Police Officer (RPO) Tayyab Hafeez Cheema, CCPO Gujranwala Rana Ayaz Saleem, and DPO Sialkot for their efforts to arrest the culprits.

IG Punjab further directed to expedite the crackdown against all accused who managed to escape abroad after committing crimes.

He said that necessary assistance should be taken from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Interpol, and other relevant departments to arrest the accused.
