Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan was arrested by Punjab Police from his Lahore residence at Zaman Park after an Islamabad court convicted him in the Toshakhana case and sentenced him to three years imprisonment, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Punjab IGP Dr Usman Anwar was requested by Federal Capital Police IGP to implement the arrest warrants issued by the court.

Upon receiving the arrest warrants, IGP Punjab directed CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana to implement the court orders. After having a meeting with the relevant officials at the CCPO office a high profile police team assisted by the Elite force was deployed for the arrest of Khan.

CTO Lahore ordered the immediate blocking of all the traffic heading towards Zaman Park as the police party reached Khan’s residence. The precautionary measures were taken due to the previous incidents of strong resistance from the PTI workers.

However, this time around there were no PTI workers there at Zaman Park and the police had smooth sailing while implementing the court orders.

When police reached Khan’s residence, his wife Bushra BiBi put up a resistance and later PTI chief Khan also threatened police officers with consequences. However, the police arrested the former premier and did not let him even change his clothes.

He was sleeping at the time the police reached his residence and was in a tracksuit and the police arrested him in the same attire and took him towards the airport where a special plane was to arrive from Islamabad for the transfer of Khan to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

However, later the plan changed as the bad weather forced the police to transport him to Adiala jail by road.

A few PTI workers gathered at the residence of Imran Khan and chanted slogans. However, the police remained unperturbed and did not stop them from the protest and left the area with Khan immediately after his arrest.
