Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehamn has reiterated his party’s resolve to stand firm on demand to cut power tariffs.

Addressing the participants of the Rawalpindi sit-in he urged Prime Minister Shehbaz-led government to deliver to avert Bangladesh premier Hasina Wajid-like situation.

He added: “You can't rein in IPPs. So, listen, Shehbaz Sharif, your situation will also be like Hasina Wajid!

“Hasina Wajid got a helicopter, but you will not get a plane. That is why I am saying give us our right.”

According to Bangladesh media, Hasina with her sister fled the country in a helicopter to India after stepping down as the premier in the face of overwhelming protests.

The JI chief stressed: “We are adamant. We are not quitting the sit-in. Don't think we got tired! You are mistaken.”

He added: “The government has been gimmicking over the matter but to no avail.

“We want prices brought back. We will not back down an inch from our legitimate demands

“If you want to drive big vehicles, drive with your vehicles and pay for fuel.

The JI chief expressed solidarity with Kashmiris fighting for their right to self-determination and took a swipe at the government for its failure to press India to refrain from stripping Kashmir’s special status.

“On August 5, Modi abolished 370-A and established his dominance over Kashmir.

“Even today, Kashmiris are not accepting this oppression and are continuously struggling for their right to self-determination.”

He claimed “General Bajwa did all this by colluding with Modi.

He said "It is the responsibility of ISPR to give a clear message on the issue of Kashmir. Even today, Yasin Malik and Asia Andrabi are in Indian confinement.”

Listen Kashmiris, the government has forgotten you, the people of Pakistan have not forgotten you,” he added.

He asserted: “So-called intellectuals kept harping on the artificial development of Bangladesh. For 15 years, Hasina ruled in connivance with India.

“We have to get rid of the agents of America and the friends of India. The country too has friends of Modi.”
