A commission constituted to dig into the Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) sit-in staged at Faizabad in 2017, met with Dr Akhtar Ali Shah in the chair, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
Former principal secretary Fawad Hasan Fawad showed up and recorded his statement, sources said, adding that Fawad shared information about the cabinet meeting on November 22, 2017. Fawad was the then principal secretary to the PM at the time of the sit-in.
Fawad, currently caretaker privatisation minister, was one of the participants of a then-prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi-headed meeting that decided to hold talks with the TLP.
The commission will give a questionnaire to Fawad, the insiders said, adding that ex-PM Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and former interior minister Ahsan Iqbal have also been given questionnaires.
Former Punjab police chief, and Rawalpindi CPO also appeared before the commission.
Following a notification of the Ministry of Law and Justice on the direction of the Supreme Court, the commission is working and according ot sources it has not so far decided to summon Faiz Hameed.
