The mayor of Swat City, Shahid Ali, was arrested by the Deer Police on Wednesday on charges of corruption and misuse of authority, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the police, a case has been registered against Ali under various provisions of the law, including fraud, embezzlement and breach of trust. Ali was arrested from his residence in Sahibabad Deer and taken to the local police station for interrogation.

The police said that they have evidence of Ali's involvement in several illegal activities and that he will be presented before the court soon.
