Prime Minister Imran Khan wanted PTI central leader Jahangir Tareen back to a committee for keeping coalition intact. For the purpose, the premier invited Tareen to Bani Gala, sources said.

Tareen remained a successful negotiator of PTI to cobble a coalition to form government. Tareen raised his concerns with Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, saying: “A well-organised campaign is being run against me and Prime Minister Imran is being misled.”

Khattak promised all-out support to Tareen. Following his return from abroad a couple of days ago. Jahangir Tareen also met PTI leaders Amir Tallal Gopang and Sardar Ashiq Hussain Gopang. Faisalabad MNA Fazal Ullah Kamoka, Karachi MNAs Jamil Ahmed Khan, Fahim Khan, Aftab Jahangir and Ataullah also met Tareen to discuss the current prevailing political situation.

A couple of days ago, Punjab Assembly Speaker Ch Parvez Elahi had complained of being ignored by ruling PTI despite being a key coalition partner.

“Everything was going smooth following a Jahangir Tareen-led committee held successful meetings with allies, but Tareen’s replacement left the coalition partners in the lurch,” Elahi lamented.

“Our discussions to strengthen the coalition were going in the right directions but changing Tareen as the leader of the negotiating team was surprising. As a result of such an ill-thought decision, the process of fulfilling promises of PTI has been halted.
