A Lahore High Court judge has adjourned the hearing of the harassment case against former Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam till second week of April without any proceedings on Thursday, saying the national hero should not be disturbed on the occasion of Champions Trophy, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Justice Asjad Javed Gharal conducted the hearing and remarked that Babar Azam should not be distracted and the next hearing will be conducted after Champions Trophy and Eidul Fitr.

Babar Azam had challenged the lower court’s decision for registration of a case against him but the LHC has suspended that verdict.

It may be mentioned here that a woman named Hamiza Mukhtar has filed a case against Babar Azam of sexual harassment. She took the plea in the case that she and Babar Azam had relationship that continued for a long time.

She claimed that she later conceived but Azam had her abort the child, consoling her and promising to marry her, saying it won't be good for them to have a child before marriage.

Attaching all medical documents to prove her abortion and her relationship with Azam, she told the court that she approached the Naseerabad police to have an FIR registered against Azam. However, the matter between them was resolved following Azam's assurance that he will marry her.

She alleged that she, once again, approached the police station to get an FIR registered against the accused, but the concerned police seemed reluctant in registering it.

She further added that she requests the court to issue directives to concerned quarters to register an FIR against Azam for blackmailing and fornicating with her in the name of marriage.
