Additional District and Sessions Court, Karachi-West on Tuesday reserved its verdict in Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MNA Qadir Mandokhel’s petition for registration of a case against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader and Special Assistant to Punjab CM on Information Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan for slapping him during live TV show, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The decision will now be pronounced on July 8 (Thursday).
Saeedabad police submitted to the court a report on the case.
Counsel for MNA Mandokhel told the court that police’s report contained the statements of people of MNA’s constituency, who were ‘fretting and fuming’ over the treatment of their elected representative at the hands of PTI leader.
He further said that if not checked, the situation could get out of control.
MNA Mandokhel had stated in his petition that Firdous Ashiq Awan had slapped him during live TV show; had called him names and even threatened to kill him, that the incident caused an outrage in the people of his constituency as well as his family members, and since police had refused to lodge a complaint, therefore the court was requested to order police to register a case against Firdous.
