Veteran Bollywood actor Dilip Kumar has been hospitalised to Hinduja Hospital in Khar, Mumbai, after he complained of breathlessness on Sunday, Indian media reported.
Dilip Kumar's wife Saira Banu informed that the actor was not keeping well for the past few days.
The 98-year-old actor is being monitored by senior doctors at the hospital led by pulmonologist Dr Jalil Parker. Earlier, the actor was admitted to the hospital in May for routine check-up.
In May, the actor was discharged from the hospital after all the tests were conducted.
Dilip Kumar turned 98 on December 11, 2020. The actor did not celebrate his birthday as he lost his two brothers in 2020.
Speaking about the same, his wife Saira Banu had said, "We have had a catastrophe this year. Dilip Sahab lost his two brothers. He doesn’t keep well, neither do I. It’s a difficult time for us, so there is no question of a big celebration. We will simply thank the Lord for the gift of life and health."
Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu had been in isolation since March 2020 due to the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Born as Muhammad Yusuf Khan on December 11, 1922, Dilip Kumar made his acting debut in 1944 film Jwar Bhata. It was the 1947 film Jugnu that catapulted the actor to the limelight.
The actor's ancestral home in Pakistan is being converted into a museum by the government there.
Dilip Kumar has been part of several Bollywood films, including Jogan, Babul, Azaad, Tarana, Deedar, Aan, Karma, Footpath, Daag, Devdas and Mughal-e-Azam. Dilip Kumar made his last film appearance in 1998's Qila.
Last year, the screen icon lost his two younger brothers — Aslam Khan (88) on August 21 and Ehsan Khan (90) on September 3 — due to Covid-19.
