Special Assistant to Prime Minister Jamshed Iqbal Cheema has said the next year will be the year of the agriculture economy.
He said 90 and 80 percent cotton sowing targets had been achieved in Punjab and Sindh respectively and the crop yield is better this time.
He said based on sowing, they were expecting nine million cotton bales production this year. He said the government was working to introduce agriculture reforms in every possible way to make the cotton crop successful.
Cheema said the wheat and sugar cane crops’ production was historic this year. He said the agriculture economy witnessed Rs1100 billion transaction this year which gave a boost to the income of the farmers. He said the government was bringing an investment of billions of rupees in the livestock sector which would further boost the agriculture economy.
