Extremely hot weather persists in most parts of the country, especially in plains, and the weather department has predicted no relief for the people during the next 24 hours, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.
It was extremely hot in Lahore even early in the morning as the temperature shot up to 37 degrees Celsius, and was likely to touch 45 degrees Celsius later in the day.
The humidity level in the air was recorded at 20 per cent while breeze was blowing at the speed of 13 kilometers per hour.
The air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 190.
Meanwhile, the heatwave has prompted doctors and health experts to advise people to stay indoors in order to avoid exposure to sunrays.
The central Punjab city of Faisalabad was in the grip of extreme heat even early in the morning, and the weather department predicted no rain for the city and its outskirts during the next 24 hours.
It was predicted that maximum temperature in the city would remain at 46 degrees Celsius, while the minimum on 31 degrees Celsius.
The level of moisture in the air was recorded at 30 per cent, while breeze was blowing at the speed of 10 kilometers per hour.
Extreme heat has made lives of people miserable, particularly in southern parts of the country.
The Met Office has predicted no relief for the people of southern Punjab city of Multan and its adjoining areas in the next 24 hours as today the temperature is likely to reach 46 degrees Celsius later in the day, while it remained 28 degrees Celsius on the minimum side early in the morning.
However, rain has been forecast for the city and its suburbs in the next week.
The humidity level in the city stood at 36 per cent.
The weather department, on the other hand, predicted light rain accompanied by strong winds for few places in Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during the next 24 hours, while extreme heat for the remaining parts of the country.
It further said that dust-raising winds would blow in most parts of the country later in the afternoon.
