A 12-member high-level delegation of Saudi Arabia reached Karachi Airport for reviewing the inclusion of the airport under the ‘Road to Mecca’ project, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The Saudi delegation was welcomed at Karachi Airport by Federal Secretary Religious Affairs and Director Hajj Karachi.
During Hajj, the immigration facility of Pakistani pilgrims at Karachi Airport will be reviewed.
Saudi authorities will also conduct a survey for the immigration of pilgrims under the Road to Mecca project.
According to the report of the Saudi authorities, Karachi Airport will be included in the Road to Mecca project this year.
Under the Road to Mecca project, after immigration process of pilgrims at Karachi Airport during Hajj that will not take place at Jeddah Airport.
Currently, only Islamabad Airport is included in the Road to Mecca project.
There is a plan to include Karachi and Lahore airports in the Road to Mecca project.
Saudi authorities accompanied with authorities of Ministry of Religious Affairs, Immigration, Civil Aviation, Airport Security Force, Customs and other departments will conduct a joint survey of Karachi Airport.
