FBR extends date for filing sales tax, FDE returns

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for payment of sales tax and federal excise duty and submission of returns under Section 74 of the Sales Tax Act 1990 and Section 43 of the Federal Excise Act 2005, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

In this regard, the FBR has issued a letter to all the Chief Commissioners of Inland Revenue (IR).

The date for payment of sales tax and federal excise duty has been extended till May 18, 2021, which was earlier May 15, 2021.

Similarly, the date for filing sales tax and federal excise returns has been extended to May 21, 2021, which was earlier May 18, 2021.

The FBR has decided to extend the date due to the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

It may be mentioned here that The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) surpassed its revenue collection target by Rs34 billion to Rs384bn in April, the second-highest collection in the second half of the current fiscal year (FY21).
