After a hike in prices of petrol and electricity, the inflation-hit people are being given another economic jolt as the dairy farms association has declared to raise milk price by Rs10 per litre from November 8 in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The announcement is another bolt from the blue for the Karachiites. The dairy and cattle farms association on Saturday said that the milk price would be raised by Rs130 per litre to Rs140 per litre. The association further pronounced to jack the price up by another Rs30 per litre after two months.
Yesterday, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved an increase of Rs1.68 in basic electricity tariff. Due to the increase in the tariff, the average price of electricity became Rs15.36 per unit and NEPRA’s decision would apply to all distribution companies including Karachi-Electric Company.
NAPRA said that the basic electricity tariff was increased on the request of the federal government and it would apply to all electricity distribution companies including K-Electric.
NEPRA further stated that the decision would take effect after notification from the federal government and the increase would not apply to users of up to 200 units per month.
The increase in the electricity tariff will cost power consumers an additional Rs135 billion.
