Pakistan Seniors Saturday defeated Juniors hockey team 3-1 in the first match of the National Senior Junior Hockey Series in Lahore.
Pakistan Hockey Federation president Brig (retd) Khalid Sajjad Khokhar inaugurated the series being held for the preparation of both the teams for their upcoming international assignment. Pakistan Junior Hockey team is set to take part in Junior Hockey World Cup in India while the Pakistan national team is preparing for an Asian hockey event. The series is comprised of four matches to be played at the National Hockey Stadium.
The first was played between the National senior probable and National Juniors Hockey Squad. Match started with a very fast-paced game. The best game was played by both the teams. Pakistan junior team played better and scored a field goal in the 9th minute of the game with the help of Roman while from Pakistan Senior Probable Mubashir Ali scored a penalty corner in the 18th minute, Junaid Kamal in the 55th minute and Junaid Manzoor in the 58th minute.
President of Pakistan Hockey Federation Brig. R Khalid Sajjad Khokhar was the special guest on the occasion. The distinguished guest was introduced to the teams. Accompanying him on the occasion were Secretary General PHF Asif Bajwa, Chairman Selection Committee Olympian Manzoor Jr., Members Selection Committee Olympian Nasir Ali, Olympian Khalid Hameed, Olympian Ayaz Mahmood, Olympian Wasim Feroze besides Olympian Tauqeer Dar, Olympian Aleem Raza, Secretary Punjab Hockey Association Colonel Asif Naz Khokhar, Associate Secretary Punjab Hockey Association Rai Usman Akbar, Inspector Masood-ur-Rehman, Asian Hockey Federation Event Manager Zahid Ali Khan, Program Development Officer Ghulam Ghous were also present.
These matches are being kept off-camera by the Pakistan Hockey Federation so that the performances of the players, game patterns and technical planning of the game are not exposed in advance.
The second match of the series will be played tomorrow at 3 pm at the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore.
