A request has been submitted to the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to increase electricity rates nationwide as part of the quarterly adjustment for the current fiscal year's first quarter.

According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, this adjustment proposes a financial impact of Rs 8.72 billion on consumers, with NEPRA scheduled to conduct a hearing on the proposal on November 20.

According to NEPRA, Rs 8.06 billion is being requested for capacity charges, Rs 1.25 billion for operations and maintenance, and Rs 1.65 billion for system charges and market operation fees.

Currently, consumers across Pakistan, including Karachi, are paying Rs 1.74 per unit under the quarterly adjustment from the last fiscal quarter. This adjustment recovery will conclude by the end of this month, as per channel reports.
