A delegation of senior journalists called on Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) Chairman Saleem Baig in Islamabad on Tuesday and discussed with him 40 days long suspension of the 24NewsHD TV and its impact on hundreds of workers associated the news channel.
PFUJ former president Afzal Butt, Rawalpindi-Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) President Amir Sajjad Syed and Secretary-General Asif Bhatti and National Press Club Secretary General Anwar Raza comprised the delegation, which met the PEMRA chief.
During the meeting, journalists expressed their reservations about the suspension of 24NewsHD TV licence and highlighted the uncertainty surrounding the jobs of 24News workers.
Failure of various TV channels in paying their staff and the new PEMRA Bill also came under discussion during the meeting.
