The exporters on Thursday expressed their worry over an end to concessionary tariffs on electricity and gas for export industries, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Towels Manufacturers Association Senior Member Umar Lari said that the production cost would increase further with termination of concessionary tariffs.
“The termination of concessionary tariffs will have negative effects on textile exports. We will not be able to compete with India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. We will lose our customers,” he added.
“Once we lose a foreign customer, it is very difficult to bring him back. The government should restore the concessional tariff for the export sector,” he demanded.
“If the concessional tariff is not restored, the export industry will be closed,” he expressed concern.
It is to be noted here that the concessionary tariff on electricity and gas for the export industries had been terminated from October 1 last.
