Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Captain (r) Safdar on Tuesday said that former prime minister and the party supremo Nawaz Sharif would certainly return to the country, and that too before elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Speaking to the media outside a court in Gujranwala, Safdar, who is also son-in-law of Nawaz, said if Pakistan was to be saved, Nawaz’s return was necessary. “Inflation and other issues will be controlled following the party’s supremo return to the country,” he said.

He said those people who had removed Nawaz from the PM Office not once but twice must be held accountable for that. “Former army chief General (r) Qamar Javed Bajwa, former spymaster General (r) Faiz Hameed and former chief justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar will have to be held accountable for that,” he said, adding, “I demand that those judges who had heard the Panama leaks case should be asked as to why they disqualified former prime minister at the behest of General (r) Faiz. Was it an enmity against the PML-N supremo or the state?”

Safdar claimed that Shehbaz Sharif, by moving a no-trust motion against the then prime minister Imran Khan, had saved the federation. “It was his farsightedness,” he added.

PML-N leader said it was caretaker government’s job to hold elections in the country. “Before you ask whether inflation could be over in just three months, there was a need to ascertain as to what had caused inflation,” he asserted.

He was of the view that the issue dated back to the day Imran had become the country’s prime minister. “It takes four years to eliminate the rot that got accumulated in four years,” he commented while referring to four years of PTI government.

Safdar claimed that former finance minister Ishaq Dar was not ready to borrow loans even in the final stages of the last government.

Court to pronounce verdict in Safdar’s case on September 26

Earlier, Judicial Magistrate Muhammad Imtiaz Bajwa said that verdict in the case of making speech against the state institutions registered against Captain (r) Safdar would be pronounced on September 26. Safdar and other PML-N leader Imran Khalid Butt appeared in the court.

An FIR had been registered against him and other party leaders at Satellite police station on October 2, 2020 for threatening to besiege Corps Commander House in Gujranwala.
