Punjab sees highest daily number of virus cases so far; tally hits 1918

Punjab on Monday saw the highest jump so far in the number of coronavirus cases, as 538 new infections were confirmed in 24 hours, taking the tally in the province to 1,918 and nationwide to 3,767.
Giving details of the cases, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said that tests of 1,929 people were conducted on Monday and 425 of them tested positive. He said in a twitter message:
“We now have capacity to perform 3,100 tests/day and 8 more labs are in pipeline, that will take our capacity to 5000/day. We believe that early detection and isolation is our best bet to contain the virus & we will keep working towards that.”
In his twitter message, the chief minister also gave district-wise tally of coronavirus cases in the province.

Elsewhere, 51 coronavirus cases were confirmed in Sindh, taking the tally to 932; three in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, taking the tally to 408; four in Gilgit-Baltistan, taking the tally to 210; 10 in Balochistan, taking the tally to 202; four in Federal Capital, taking the tally to 82 and one in Azad Kashmir, taking the tally to 15.
At least 413 coronavirus patients have recovered so far, while 52 have lost the battle against the deadly virus.
