Pushpika De Silva (winner of Sri Lanka’s biggest beauty prize) became the victim of a negative confrontation while on stage on the assumption of breaking a pageant rule.
The assumption declared that she has no right to the prize because she is ‘divorced’.
The winner Pushpika received injuries on her head during an intense fight which broke out while on stage.
Here is some explanation to what actually took place:
Miss Pushpika was awarded the ‘Mrs Sri Lanka’ trophy. However, achievements at such a massive magnitude cannot be digested by many mainly the competitors.
According to reports the 2019 winner, Caroline Jurie took off Ms Silva’s crown on the basis that she is ‘divorced’ and that is against the pageant rules.
"There is a rule that prevents women who have already been married and are divorced, so I am taking steps to make the crown go to second place," Ms Jurie explained her stance.
Let’s emphasise a bit on Ms Jurie’s audacity when she actually placed the crown on the runner-up.
Obviously this intense confrontation and in front of such a large audience intimidated Ms De Silva which led her to exit from the stage with a tear-stricken face.
However, fret not! The prize was returned to its rightful owner Miss Pushpika when it was confirmed that she is not divorced.
It is in everyone’s knowledge that ‘jealousy’ can make someone carry out obscene stunts.
An apology was offered to Ms De Silva who claimed she is very much ‘separated’ but not ‘divorced’.
Ms De Silva declared that the head injuries were so severe, she had to pay a trip to the hospital.
And further added that she will take legal action against the conducted mis-treatment.
"I'm still an un-divorced woman. A true queen is not a woman who snatches another woman's crown, but a woman who secretly sets another woman's crown!" Miss De Silva laid out her perspective regarding the topic at hand.
