Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) and Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) have recovered two hostages and arrested five kidnappers during a joint operation in Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
Police and CPLC acted on the orders of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Crime Investigation Agency (CIA).
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) AVCC Zafar Siddique, police arrested five including four injured accused after an encounter.
He said the accused had abducted two citizens came from Punjab from the limits of Bahadurabad.
The accused had demanded a ransom of Rs20 million for the release of the hostages, said SSP AVCC.
AVCC and CPLC took action in site area on technical grounds, Zafar Siddique said.
The accused started firing on seeing the police and in the retaliatory firing, four accused have been arrested in injured condition, SSP EVCC said.
He said that during the operation, the two hostages have been rescued safely and weapons have also been recovered from the possession of the accused.
