Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar appeared to distance the party from a recent bill introduced in the US Congress, while reaffirming his party’s commitment to securing the release of PTI founding leader Imran Khan.
Barrister Gohar emphasized that "serious and concrete measures" will be taken to ensure the release of the party's imprisoned founder. He lamented that the lack of an independent judiciary continues to be the biggest barrier to justice.
“If the courts fail to deliver a verdict, our political alliance will be forced to make a decision,” he said, hinting at the possibility of collective political action. He also clarified that Senator Azam Swati had not made any remarks warranting disciplinary action from the party.
On internal matters, the PTI chairman called for an end to the practice of public oaths and declarations, particularly those involving the Qur’an. "These customs must stop. Going forward, no internal party matters will be discussed publicly," he asserted.
Regarding the bill introduced in the US Congress, Barrister Gohar downplayed its relevance.
"Many bills are introduced in the US, some are passed, others are not. I haven't seen the bill in question, and PTI has no connection to it," he said, making it clear that the party had no involvement or association with the legislation.
