The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has officially extended its support to the lawyers’ community in Gilgit-Baltistan, who are currently protesting against the non-appointment of judges and law officers in the region, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Monday.
In a statement issued by the PBC, it was affirmed that the Council stands in solidarity with the lawyers of Gilgit-Baltistan, where demonstrations continue due to delays in judicial appointments.
The legal fraternity in Gilgit-Baltistan has already announced a boycott of court proceedings until April 16. Lawyers are also demanding the implementation of the Lawyer Protection Act in the region, emphasising the urgency of addressing their longstanding grievances.
The PBC has urged the federal authorities to resolve the issues being faced by the legal community in Gilgit-Baltistan without further delay, citing that a functional and impartial judiciary is essential for upholding the rule of law.
