Ethan Hunt’s swan song is here – and it’s hanging off the side of a plane. Literally.
The official trailer for Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning has dropped, and it’s every bit as wild, death-defying, and adrenaline-charged as fans have come to expect from Tom Cruise and his legendary alter ego, Ethan Hunt.
Set to hit cinemas worldwide on May 21, 2025, the film marks the eighth and final installment of the blockbuster franchise that’s been redefining spy thrillers since 1996.
In the trailer, Cruise—who clearly has no regard for gravity or retirement—pulls off another jaw-dropping stunt: clinging to a speeding aircraft mid-air, a tease of the chaos to come in what’s being billed as Ethan Hunt’s final mission.
Joining Cruise for this grand finale are franchise veterans and newcomers alike, including Hayley Atwell, Esai Morales, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Pom Klementieff, Vanessa Kirby, Nick Offerman, and Hannah Waddingham, among others.
Directed by Christopher McQuarrie—the creative mind behind the franchise since Rogue Nation (2015)—Final Reckoning promises a cinematic send-off packed with action, emotional weight, and, of course, Cruise doing what only Cruise can.
Speaking to Empire, Cruise teased the experience with a knowing smile: “You gotta see the movie… it’s something you have to experience.”
Co-star Simon Pegg also chimed in, saying, “He’ll never want to short-change his audience… the minute he can’t do what he wants to do, he’ll stop.”
But until then, expect high-speed chases, near-death stunts, and a farewell worthy of one of Hollywood’s most enduring heroes.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it: clear your calendar for May 21st, 2025.
