Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has said Sher Afzal Marwat will remain with the party, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
“Be patient for two days and you will get good news,” he told the media after a meeting with Sher Afzal Marwat in the Parliament.
He invited Sher Afzal Marwat to a meeting with Imran Khan, saying: “Let’s go now.”
He added: “The issue of Sher Afzal Marwat is a party’s internal matter
“Sher Afzal Marwat is with us and will remain.”
“The notification of basic membership of Sher Afzal Marwat is a misunderstanding.”
“Here constitutional amendments are made, this is just a notification.”
Sher Afzal Marwat seconded Barrister Gohar and reposed trust in him.
“I have full faith in Barrister Gohar and PTI founder,” he added.
With uncertainty surrounding the status of his PTI membership, a report cited sources as saying the party chairman has stopped Sher Afzal Marwat from resigning from the National Assembly.
Marwat offered to resign from his NA seat and get re-elected as an independent candidate. However, Gohar said he would meet Imran Khan before accepting the resignation.
On Friday, PTI’s additional secretary general, Firdous Shamim Naqvi, issued the notification of Marwat’s expulsion over gross violation and breach of discipline. Some sources in the party claimed the notification was fake, but Naqvi later clarified that the notification was genuine and issued with the approval of the PTI founder.
