In an important development in TikToker Ayesha Akram’s molestation case, a court in Lahore on Tuesday accepted the post-arrest bail application of Asif Azeem, a suspect, in lieu of surety bond of Rs0.1 million, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Additional Session Judge Ikhlaq Ahmad, who heard the case, gave the order after counsels for the suspect concluded their arguments.
Police, on the occasion, submitted to the court the detailed record of the case.
Opposing the bail plea of Azeem, Prosecutor Sajid Saeed Bhatti prayed to the court not to grant bail to him since he was present at the site of the incident at the time of the commission of the crime.
Ayesha had been molested by a mob of around 400 people, mostly youth, when she went to Greater Iqbal Park along with her friend Rambo on August 14 this year to make a TikTok video in connection with the country’s Independence Day celebrations.
The incident had sparked countrywide outrage and also made headlines in the international media.
