Four women shot dead in RYK for ‘honour’

Four women were killed in Rahim Yar Khan’s Kot Samaba area for ‘honour’ on Monday night, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.

Those who were killed for ‘honour’ were included: a woman, her two daughters, and daughters’ cousin. While an injured woman was shifted to Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Rahim Yar Khan. 

Police said that it had arrested all three men, namely Sajid, Suleman and Zahid, who were involved in the killings, besides recovering from them the weapon used in the incident. 

Three of the four women who were killed, had eloped with their paramours, police added.   

Meanwhile, taking notice of the killings, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar sought a report from the provincial IGP. 

Additional IG South Punjab Captain (r) Zafar Iqbal Awan said that the incident was being looked into from different angles. “The crime scene has been preserved and evidence collected,” he informed.

RYK DPO Capt (r) Muhammad Ali Zia said that the killers had been arrested and that the aggrieved family would get justice. 

Regional Coordinator Human Rights Commission Faisal Mehmood stressed the need for educating people so that they refrain from taking lives of others for ‘honour’. “If people involved are brought to justice on time, such type of incidents can be prevented,” he added. 

SP Investigation Capt (r) Doust Muhammad said that cases had been registered against six persons who were in police custody.
