Honorary Consul General of Sri Lanka Yasin Joiya called on Acting Governor Chaudhry Parvez Elahi at Governor House on Tuesday.

Parvez Elahi offered heartfelt condolence over the tragic death of a Sri Lankan factory official in Sialkot.

Islam is a religion of peace, he said stressing that mob justice is unacceptable and the culprits of Sialkot lynching will be punished sternly.

The barbaric act has brought shame to Pakistan, he said assuring the visiting dignitary of all-out support to the victim family.

Expressing solidarity with the family of victim, Parvez Elahi said the Punjab government should announce financial assistance for the victims . . The Sri Lankan honorary consul expressed gratitude to the government Pakistan for all kinds of support.

Last week, scores of mobsters tortured to death a Sri Lankan man Priyantha Kumara on ‘blasphemy’ charges. More than a dozen suspects spotted with the help of footage were remanded by a duty magistrate in police custody.

Prime Minister Imran Khan announced Tamgha-i-Shujaat, the civil award for bravery, for the victim’s colleague, Malik Adnan, who tried his utmost to rescue the Sri Lankan man.
