Laying to rest all speculations, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja on Thursday said this categorically that the general elections would be held on February 8, 2024, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
In his message on the National Voters’ Day, the CEC said that the election schedule would be released in a few days. “The ECP is fully aware of its legal and constitutional duties,” he said, and added, “We are ready to hold free, fair and transparent elections.”
In a few days from now, he went on to say that the notification for the appointment of district returning officers (DROs), returning officers (ROs) and assistant officers will be issued.
Appealing to the people to enthusiastically participate in electoral process, CEC Raja said that was not only their right but also a duty.
He urged the people to exercise their right to vote for the bright future of the country.
Sikandar Sultan Raja said people should remember that the power of vote is in their hands. They should use their vote keeping their own and children's future in mind, he added.
Sikandar Sultan Raja said the Election Commission is well aware of all its constitutional and legal obligations and is committed to conduct transparent and peaceful elections. He said the printing and delivery of the final election lists has been completed.
He said in a few days and the election schedule will be given.
