Musical feud ignites the spotlight. Pakistani singer Omer Nadeem call out Indian singer Sonu Nigam for stealing his track ‘Aye Khuda’.
This isn’t the first time such a controversy between the two countries has come to light.
There were several such instances when Pakistani artist called out the Indian music industry for copying their music blatantly and not even giving any credit to the original version.
This time T-Series has plagiarized Omer Nadeem's 14-year-old song ‘Aey Khuda.’ Famous singer Sonu Nigam contributes vocals to the song, which has been renamed ‘Sun Zara’.
This is made even more ominous by the fact that Omer Nadeem and his record label are never mentioned in the Sun Zara credits.
Omer took to Instagram and shared a post in which he combined the videos of both songs and wrote a paragraph in which he responded to plagiarism. The singer stated that he doesn't mind if something like this happens at this point, but they should at least credit him when they copy his song.
His caption reads:
“I’ve reached a point in my life where I couldn’t care less about these things. But hey, if you’re going to do it, at least toss a little credit to the OG track. If you’re gonna pull this off, could’ve at least done it with some finesse. Huge fan of Sonu Nigam, but let’s be real, this is light years away from the real deal.”
Netizens responded to Nadeem's post by repeatedly stating that his original version is far superior to the recent song sung by Indian singer Sonu Nigam.
However, few people have pointed out that the song was written by KRK and only sung by Sonu Nigam so actually KRK stole it.
“Hi @omernadeem, this song copies by KRK, not Sonu Nigam and OG is best.”
Pakistani actress Armeena Khan also expressed her disappointment and commented:
“@sonunigamofficial why are stealing music?”
It is truly disheartening to see Bollywood plagiarize the work of Pakistani artists with no repercussions. Given the large audience at their disposal, these plagiarized songs are bound to outperform the originals they are ripping off.
The music video was released three days ago and has already received 2.2 million views, nearly three times the number of views received by Nadeem's original song from 2009.
