A 21-year-old female student at a private university in Gujrat committed suicide on Thursday by jumping into River Chenab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The deceased identified as Aleeza Jahangir was the resident of Wazirabad, and was a student of BSc Computer Sciences.

Although, fishermen present on the river bank tried to save her life, but in vain.

After learning about the incident, a heavy contingent of the police and Rescue 1122 personnel reached the site.

Police said they were trying to ascertain the reason for the suicide.

The body was shifted to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital in Gujrat.
