At least 25 people were killed and 36 others sustained injuries when a passenger bus plunged into a ravine after a head-on collision with a car in Upper Kohistan Tuesday.
According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the passenger bus was bound for Rawalpindi from Ghazar when it met the accident.
Rescue operations have been started and the injured are being pulled out of the ravine. The injured and dead bodies were shifted to Shetial Hospital.
According to the Deputy Commissioner Diemer Fayaz Ahmad, a private company bus was going from Ghazar to Rawalpindi when it collided with a speedy car in Upper Kohistan. After the crash, the bus plunged into a ditch.
President Dr Arif Alvi on Tuesday condoled over the loss of life in a bus accident that took place in Diamer district of Gilgit Baltistan.
The president expressed grief over the deaths in the tragic incident and sympathised with the bereaved families.
He also prayed to Allah Almighty for peace of the departed souls and early recovery of the injured.
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed his deep shock and grief over the tragic road accident near Chilas on Karakorum Highway, which caused loss of precious human lives.
He prayed for the departed souls and expressed his condolences with the bereaved families.
The Prime Minister also prayed for the early recovery of injured and directed the authorities concerned to provide all possible medical aid to the injured.
