A 55-year-old woman who sustained burn injuries as a result of an acid attack in Karachi's Gulistan-e-Jauhar a day ago died on Saturday, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to police officials, two masked men entered the house and threw acid on the woman and her daughter. However, her daughter remained safe in the incident as she saved her life by hiding in a washroom.
The victim was targeted in what seems to be a deeply personal and tragic act of violence.
The victim’s daughter Rabia who witnessed the horrific event, recounted the terrifying details.
According to her, two assailants forcibly entered their home, unleashing violence upon them. The deceased valiantly trying to protect her daughter, was doused with acid.
She was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment where she succumbed.
Further investigations by the police revealed that Rabia was divorced six years ago and her children were residing with her former husband.
The police said that her former husband had been threatening her for the last six months.
