The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) has announced the names of its candidates for the national and provincial assemblies from Punjab, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Saturday.
The party has fielded 53 candidates for the National Assembly and 138 candidates for the Provincial Assembly, according to a statement by the provincial spokesperson of JUI.
The statement said that the party has also given tickets to six women candidates on general seats and three women candidates on reserved seats. The provincial secretary general of JUI, Hafiz Naseer Ahmed Ahrar, will contest from PP 171 Lahore, while the provincial president of JUI, Hafiz Ghazanfar Aziz, will run from NA 128 Lahore.
Some of the other prominent candidates of JUI are Maulana Safiullah from NA 92, Ziaur Rahman Amazai from NA 56 and PP 16, Rao Abdul Qayyum from NA 82, Salimullah Qadri from NA 130, Abdul Wadood from NA 175, Sajjad Vance from NA 148, Mohammad Safdar Shehbaz from NA 165, 167 and 168, Mohammad Afzal Khan from NA 118 and PP 148, Saifur Rahman Rashidi from NA 166, Khawaja Mudassar Mehmood Taunsvi from NA 183 and Qari Ibrahim from PP 1.
The statement also said that Maulana Yahya Abbasi from NA 176 and PP 273, Maulana Mudassar Irfan from PP 288, Abdullah Fahad Langriyal from PP 272 and Maulana Ziaur Rahman from PP 258 are among the other candidates of JUI. The party expressed confidence that its candidates will win the support of the people in the upcoming elections.
