The ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 9) is set to begin from February 17, with the defending champions Lahore Qalandars facing Islamabad United in the opening match, reported 24NewsHD TV channel Saturday.
The tournament will span a month, ending on March 17 with the final match in Karachi. A total of 34 matches will be played across four cities, namely Lahore, Multan, Karachi and Rawalpindi.
The first phase of the tournament will see Lahore and Multan hosting the matches, while the second phase will shift to Karachi and Rawalpindi. Out of the 34 matches, seven will be day matches, including six league matches and one qualifier.
Three day matches will be played in Rawalpindi, two in Lahore, and none in Karachi or Multan.
Karachi will host the most number of matches (11), followed by Lahore and Rawalpindi (9 each), and Multan (5). The official practice sessions of the teams will begin from February 12. The PSL 9 promises to be an exciting and competitive event, as six teams vie for the coveted trophy.
