The health of Pakistani mountaineer Samina Baig has deteriorated due to water accumulation in her lungs, according to doctors.

She has been transferred to Skardu Hospital for further medical treatment.

Sources indicated that Samina Baig, who was at the base camp preparing for a K2 expedition, faced difficulties in obtaining a helicopter for transport.

Consequently, she was transported on horseback from the base camp yesterday.

A foreign doctor recommended her immediate transfer to Skardu for specialized care.

Samina Baig's condition worsened at the base camp, leading to an urgent need for medical intervention.

Upon the advice of the attending doctor, arrangements were made to move her to Skardu, where she arrived late at night.

Earlier, she has to abandon the K2 expedition – the world’s second highest mountain – because of breathing problems.

According to rescuers, Samina, the first Pakistani woman to scale the world’s highest peak, had reached the base camp to lead a six-member team comprising Italian and Pakistan climbers as part of platinum jubilee celebrations of the first ascent of K2.

But she suddenly fell ill, forcing her to abandon the expedition and return.

She was photographed riding a horse as climbers and porters took her to a hospital for care.

On May 19, 2013, Samina made history by becoming the first Pakistani woman to summit Mount Everest.
