The Islamabad High Court (IHC) issued on Tuesday a notice to Federal Ombudsman Kashmala Tariq for continuing work despite completion of her tenure, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The IHC also issued a notice to the law ministry, seeking a detailed answer.
Notices have also been issued to other parties including the secretaries of the federation, president and prime minister, provincial secretaries, National Assembly, and Senate Secretariat.
Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq Khan issued notices to the parties on the petition of a citizen named Ejaz Mansoor.
Mansoor in his petition stated that a notification was issued for the appointment of Kashmala Tariq as Federal Ombudsman for Protection Against Harassment.
The petitioner stated that Kashmala Tariq had been appointed as the federal ombudsman on February 19, 2018 for a four-year term, adding that she was working despite the completion of her term.
“According to the law, the four-year term cannot be extended. Kashmala Tariq, after completion of her term as the federal ombudsman, is illegally using her position,” said the petitioner.
