Shehersaaz and UN-Habitat collaborated to celebrate World Environment Day 2023 at NUST Universities where a comprehensive panel discussion was carried out discussing and highlighting issues and concerns related to the environment and climate change, the discussion was carried out around this year’s theme “Solution to Plastic Pollution”
The panel members include Jawed Ali Khan, Country Program Manager – UN Habitat Pakistan, Dr. Imran Hashmi, Tenured Professor & Associate Dean, IESE, Ms. Rina Saeed Khan, Chairperson, Islamabad Wildlife Management Board, Dr. Mansoor Ali; Team Lead, Waste Burning Program, Royal Academy of Engineering, UK (joined online), Dr Hira Amjad, Assistant Professor SCEE and Dr. Beenish Kulsoom, Lead Local Governance Program, Shehersaaz.
Chief Guest for the event Jawed Ali Khan shared comprehensively regarding research and projects done over the course of years and mentioned that together we have to change the mind set of people if we want to apply what’s written in the books and help create a safer environment for our future generation.
Children who participated in Zero Waste Day Art competition were awarded with shields, a special Green tribute was paid to the Gardeners, sanitary workers and forest guards who help beautify our cities and are an integral part of keeping the environment safe and clean.
Guests were awarded souvenirs and beautiful clay pots towards the end of the event and a pledge was signed by the guests they will not use plastic bags and continue using cloth bags and will reuse plastic affectively.
