The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday issued arrest warrants for the PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the ECP contempt case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
While issuing the warrants, the election commission said that the PTI chairman was not appearing despite being repeatedly summoned.
The ECP directed the inspector general of police (IGP), Islamabad to ensure the implementation of warrants.
The commission also ordered Imran to submit a surety bond of Rs50, 000.
A four-member bench of the ECP will hear the case on March 14.
Fawad says warrants violation of LHC order:
Reacting to the arrest warrants issued for the PTI chief, party leader Fawad Chaudhry said the warrants were the violation of the Lahore High Court (LHC) order. “We will file contempt of court petition against the ECP,” he announced.
