Khaybar Pakhtunkhwa (PK) Caretaker Chief Minister Muhammad Azam Khan has said that he has raised the financial issues of the province related to the federation with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and will raise it again.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, he was presiding over a meeting held on Tuesday to review the economic problems facing the province.
Apart from the advisor on finance and KP chief secretary, the meeting was attended by the senior officials of the concerned departments.
The meeting considered the various aspects of the proposed economic agenda for the province.
The meeting was briefed on the economic problems of the province related to the federation.
“These issues include NFC, net profit, arrears of hydropower, food security projects, oil and gas royalty, water resources, and other issues.”
On the occasion, the finance department presented recommendations to take up the matter with the federal government in relation to the solution of these economic problems.
These recommendations are:
a) Immediate revision of shares of the province under the 7th NFC award in the context of the merger of former FATA,
b) The inclusion of the 2017 census population in the 7th NFC formula.
c) Implementation of Article 151 of the Constitution in relation to the movement of wheat and other commodities between provinces.
d) Speed up work on the rehabilitation of the command area of CRBC and Gomel Dam.
e) Decision to take up these matters in writing with the federation in the meeting.
The meeting directed the concerned authorities to prepare cases in this regard for the Council of Common Interests and other relevant forums.
Chief Minister assured the meeting that he will raise his voice at every forum to get the province out of the current difficult situation.
“No compromise will be made on the constitutional and legal rights of the province,” said Muhammad Azam Khan.
