The mortal remains of four Pakistani citizens who died in a boat wreck off the coast of Benghazi in Libya have been laid to rest in different graveyards in the Gujrat division, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Tuesday.
The boat tragedy occurred near Benghazi in Libyan waters on 26 February – the same night the wooden sailboat, carrying migrants from several countries, including Pakistan, crashed against the rocks and sank off Italy’s southern Calabria region.
In a tragic incident, at least seven Pakistani nationals perished in the incident in which dead bodies of four young have been transported to Pakistan today.
Moving scenes were witnessed at the Lahore airport when the dead bodies of 21-year-old Muhammad Ali of village Bhojpur, 26-year-old Muhammad Awais of Gujrat city, Tauqeer, a police employee of Kunjah, and Ansar Farooq of village Khumbi were handed over to their relatives.
Hue and cry were also witnessed at the houses whose loved ones left abroad illegally in the bid to have a better future in Europe.
Devastated heirs were seen crying as they went on with completing the formalities of the religious rituals for their burial.
