Pakistan records more COVID-19 cases, tally reaches 24,073

The number of active coronavirus in Pakistan stood at 17,045 on Thursday as 6,646 patients have fully recovered from the infection, the figures released by National Command and Operation Centre showed.

During the past hours, another 38 people died of coronavirus after which the number of reported deaths climbed to 564. 

Meanwhile, the number of total coronavirus cases jumped to 24,073 with the addition of 1,523 new ones during the past 24 hours.

Punjab remains at the top of the list when it comes to the confirmed cases with the figures currently standing at 9,077. It is followed by 8,640 in Sindh, 3,712 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in 1,495 Balochistan, 521 in Islamabad, 388 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 76 in Azad Kashmir.

A total of 244,778 people have so far been tested for the virus out of which 12,196 tests were conducted during the past 24 hours.

Fortunately, Azad Kashmir continues to avoid any death as no one has died of virus in the region so far.

But most deaths are reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa where 203 people have died so far. Punjab comes second with 175 followed by Sindh 157, Balochistan 22, Islamabad four and Gilgit-Baltistan three.
