The crackdown was launched on the orders of Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore Capt (r) Mustansar Feroze.

According to the sources, the officials performing duties at different points across the city also issued a warning to the parents of more than 20,000 children who left the house with a motorcycle without telling.

Many incidents of arguments and exchange of harsh words with each other were also reported during the campaign.

Mustansar Feroze said instead of challan, motorcycles of underage drivers will be impounded in police stations from next weekend.
He said underage drivers not only put their own lives in danger but other commuters on the roads as well. “Discouraging juveniles from driving vehicles is the responsibility of parents,” he added. He warned to impound the vehicle driven by a juvenile driver and free after assurance of parents. He also ordered traffic wardens and officers to impart awareness among the public about the issue also.

The CTO advised the parents not to give motorcycles, cars, or rickshaws to their young children. “It has been observed that the number of young children riding motorcycles on the roads increases significantly on holidays,” CTO Lahore hinted, adding that young children usually cause accidents.
“From next weekend, motorcycles, vehicles, and rickshaws will be closed in the police station for underage driving,” CTO Lahore added.
He appealed to the parents to play a positive role in discouraging young drivers. “In case of accidents, parents themselves will be responsible,” CTO said.
No young driver should be seen driving a car, motorcycle, or rickshaw anymore.
