Former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari Tuesday challenged his political opponents, “We welcome our political opponents. Come and contest elections against us, for this what democracy is,” reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

“Prostrations and fasting will be of no use. Only service to the poor will work,” he said while addressing a public rally in Khangarh, Ghotki, on Tuesday.

“There are many problems going on in the world. We have always done the job of the poor. I have been observing for eight years that they are unable to run the country,” he said.

“Opponents do their politics. We will do ours. When we restricted the powers of the President, there was a thought behind it. We have to develop the country and the people,” he added.

“My friends did not listen to me. It caused loss to the country,” he pointed out.

“I was the first politician to talk about Palestine. Unfortunately, we are not doing anything about atrocities in Palestine,” he lamented.

“The PTI chairman was not removed because we need power. We need country not power. It is written on Bhutto’s grave that he is a public servant,” he pointed out.

“The PTI government did not do any development work during its tenure,” he deplored.

“If there is competition in democracy, there will be good results,” he remarked.

“It is not easy to impose martial law now. Our politics is the politics of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto. Those who fight elections against us are welcomed,” he stated.
